Actually the description box editor is not our plugin. We just display the editor that used by Joomla. Anyway i will pass this to product management where they will analyse about this feature.

Looked into this a little bit more
If TinyMce editor is used then it might be achievable as this editor has a pluin feature
One of these is a character word count
